Happiness - Midsummer Night's Dream

Hi, my name is Midori. I am a Japanese-born Sydney-based contemporary artist. I am very excited about the next exhibition with my fellow artist, Mayu. The exhibition will be on at The Creative Space in North curl curl, Sydney.

Mayu and I had done the exhibition, "Fold with Love - 1,000 paper cranes" at Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick, Sydney in 2011. The exhibition was the final stage of our origami project for Art Ex, SCHF. With many support by SCHF, we did many origami workshops at various places and collected more than 3,000 paper cranes. It was a very busy but really wonderful experience. I was really lucky to work with Mayu and we have been great friends since.

We are fortunate to have a popular local exhibition venue for our next exhibition. We are very excited to invite you to our exhibition. Please pencil down the exhibition date on your diary!

Our new exhibition title is わ和輪WA. You can read it as "Wa-wa-wa-wa" and we use some Japanese characters. They have several common meanings such as harmony, peace, total, circle, ring & Japanese culture. Because both of us were born & grown-up in Japan and now live in Sydney, we would like to show our uniqueness in our artwork.

We love Sydney. We live in a wonderful community with many different nationalities. We hope we can connect with more people through our artwork.

I will show my new artworks with my favourite "Red String" theme at the exhibition. I have been working on the series for many years and my fascination towards music, literature and people gives me endless inspiration.
